Het Voorrecht
At a prestigious award show, celebrated actor Victor van Dijk (Vincent Rietveld) is called on stage to receive his twelfth consecutive prize. Determined to show he is still aligned with the spirit of the times, he delivers a carefully prepared speech in which he publicly acknowledges the privileges that shaped his success.
What begins as a confident, controlled moment gradually shifts as the dynamics between Victor and the audience start to change. Under the glare of the spotlight, the stage becomes a space where status, perception and power are put to the test.

The short film originated from a theatre performance, which writer Pieter Perry presented at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival in 2022. Through a personal reflection on his position as a white man, he explored on stage what it means to be “the norm” in a changing society.
The film builds on that foundation but expands the arena from a theatre stage to an award show. By playing with the visual language and clichés of a gala setting and deepening the character’s inner conflict, the original acceptance speech gains a sharper, more layered, and distinctly cinematic dimension.
